Dwayne Morgan is a spoken word artist who has been performing his work in Toronto and throughout the world since 1993. His work emulates many contemporary musical styles ranging from Jazz to Hip Hop, Reggae to the Blues. He has shared the stage with many of Toronto’s top artists including Glenn Lewis, Maestro, Kardinal Offishal, Choclair, Jully Black, K-OS, Saukrates, and has opened for such artists as Alicia Keys, Mutabaruka, Ursula Rucker, Saul Williams, Les Nubians, Christian McBride, and author Colin Channer.

He has won many awards including the African Canadian Award for Excellence in the Arts and the Inaugural Canadian Urban Music Award for Best Spoken Word Recording. Since the release of Straight From The Roots in 1995, Dwayne has self-published four books of his work.

As the founder of Up From The Roots Entertainment, Dwayne has produced over 100 events from R&B showcases to dance productions, spoken word concerts, open mics, and workshops. He

is one of the youngest members of the Canadian League of Poets. Dwayne currently hosts a monthly spoken word show on CKLN 88.1 FM in Toronto, and is an advice columnist in the daily publication, 24 hours.
